Thanks For Sharing Your SBI Adventure

Elad, I just read your Site Build It adventure story and found it moving. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I'm from Canada's west coast and a new SBIer having started in the beginning of 2008.

At first I was wasn't sure why your story touched me so deeply and brought me to tears 3 or 4 times. Your references to your father certainly brought me memories of my father.

I found it very comforting when I saw Ken's comments about having a similar tear reaction. Obviously his reasons and history are very different than mine.

I think one of the reasons I reacted so strongly to your story is because it felt like coming home. Somehow it validated what I've been experiencing. I also hadn't realized this incredible SBI web building journey I've started on has mostly been done by myself in creative isolation from my friends and family.

I've noticed people who aren't SBIers start looking at me strangely when I talk too much about my SBI adventure. I noted you touch on this in your story when you're careful not to overwhelm others with SBI talk like Wendy's husband Serge.

My wife Jane and 20 year old son Jesse are very supportive but I'm careful not to go on too many "excited SBI rants". They know what I'm doing but I don't think they really understand the work that's involved or the thrill and excitement it creates for me and I expect for other SBIers.

I'm guessing there might be other SBIers out there faced with a similar desire to have someone to talk to. I thinking of this as a good thing - the need to share the excitement. Not that the need to share exciting things we do in our lives is unique to just the world of SBI.

Obviously this cuts both ways. Maybe there are spouses and family members of SBIers who also need support groups because their loved ones are glued to their SBI website.

The point I'd like to focus on from your story is the Burger King group. I don't know how many similar groups there are around the world where SBIers can actually get together in person to share the experience, problem solve and be understood by a SBI peer group.

Please let me know if SBI has this feature and I've just missed it somehow. It seems a shame not to have access to this sort of a resource. I know the SBI forums provide this kind of support but its not the same as meeting in person as your trip to Canada demonstrates.

Thank again for providing us with my-sbi-adventure. I guess Ken is owed thanks as well for including the recommendation in his email to visit your site.

Good Work.
