Discover the World of Site Build It! (SBI!) Because Life is Just Too Short

What is Site Build It!?
Click here if you've never heard about SBI!...

Hi! I'm Elad and I started my first Site Build It! (SBI!) site in 2003. It was supposed to be a Web site about my travel adventures - just like this one.

But it wasn't. (Why? I'll get to that in a moment.)

Travel is in my blood. I guess my parents are to blame for that because we never lived in one house for more than two years straight!

So when I got older and left home, I just moved into a backpack.

For years my backpack and I just "blew in the wind" around the world. Until one day I met my wife, Naama.

A Pre-SBI! Adventure in Antarctica, Trying to Look Like Sir Francis Drake...

Here I am in Antarctica, trying to look "cool"...

All her life Naama grew up in the same house and had one big dream - to have kids, build a home, and settle down.

Well, you can't argue with true love - nor with your wife.

So that's exactly what we did - had kids, built a house, settled down. I got a "real" job and moved into a... cubicle.

Me? In a cubicle?! Blowing in the wind to... work, bumper-to-bumper every morning?

In a way, by settling down and starting a family, by spending long hours on the "free"-way, I had lost my own essence of being free.

Now, most people and my own common sense, told me that when you choose to settle down and start a family, then you have to make concessions, and one of them is giving up a large part of your freedom.

But, I'm sorry, I wasn't willing to settle for that. Life is just too short.

I wasn't sure exactly how I was going to pull it off, but the new trend of people earning a living on the Internet had me thinking that maybe I should check it out.

There was just one problem. I didn't know a thing about building Web sites and all that internet stuff. But heck, I didn't know anything about traveling when I set out to travel and I didn't know anything about being a father when my first daughter was born. You just learn as you go.

Luckily, as I set out to discover the Internet, two very fortunate things happened:

  1. I ran into SiteSell's Site Build It! (SBI!)
  2. I made the fateful decision of asking my sister, Tamar, to be my partner in building a Web site.

I wrote an entire story on those first days of discovery. On SBI! and how Tamar convinced me to build a kid parties site instead of a travel adventures site. On how, after only six months, we were earning over $2000 a month. I won't elaborate upon it right now, but you can just click here to read that first story if you haven't already.

Today, Tamar and I have a number of Web sites and I left my day job long ago. I am free and happy, and, yes, settled down and still happy :-).

One Big, Happy and Settled-Down Family

Here I am with my family,
trying to look like I'm settled down...

I've even managed to negotiate this "travel agreement " with my dear wife. We travel twice a year. Once a year we go for a month as a family. And once a year I go alone for two, maybe three weeks (depending on how good I bargained that year).

And here, for you, is the story of my SBI! adventure to Canada in 2008 where I set off to meet over 25 people who've also discovered the Internet through Site Build It! and who, like myself, aren't about to settle for anything less than fulfilling their dreams.

Because life is just too short.

I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did traveling it! Click to read on...
